Summer 2012 Art Classes

Did you miss out on the June art classes? Or did you enjoy them so much that you want to take more? Now you can with our art classes in July! We’re excited to partner with Front Range Community College to offer a variety of art classes for all age groups. You’re sure to find the class that’s perfect for you!

More to Color than Meets the Eye!
Wednesdays, July 11,18, 25, & August 1; 5:00-8:00 pm
Ages: Adult ( 18+)
Registration is required by the Wednesday prior to class
Fee: $10 material fee

Do you love color?  Experience four acrylic painting classes that will really open your eyes to the world of Color! Register for all four classes or just take one. No experience necessary.

Mix and Match for 12-15 yr. olds
This series of class can be taken as just one class or a combination.
Classes are Mondays, Wednesdays and/or Fridays
Ages: 12 – 15
Registration is required by the Wednesday before the class begins
Fee: $10 for materials

July 9, Monday 1-3pm
Paintings Under Pressure
Participants will paint on plexiglass to create a monotype print and use a printmaking press to transfer the design onto paper.

July 11, Wednesday 1-3pm
Drawing on Point
Learn the art of drypoint printmaking in this introductory intaglio class.  Students will create original designs on plexiglass, ink, wipe, and print with a press.

July 13, Friday 1-3pm
Crazy Shapes Relief
In this experimental relief printmaking class students will carve and shape soft plastic using knives and blades.

July 23, Monday 1-3pm
ImPRESSive Collograph
Students will create a quick collograph printing plate by pressing found materials and cut shapes into soft plastic with a press.

July 25, Wednesday 1-3pm
Bookmaking for Artists
In this class, students will learn how to construct a basic book structure out of existing prints.  Please bring prints created in Farrell’s previous museum classes if applicable.  No previous experience is necessary, and students are welcome even if they did not participate in previous classes!

July 27, Friday 1-3pm
Folded Prints
Learn to fold a basic box structure using existing prints from previous classes.  Students will transform prints from two-dimensional images, to three-dimensional objects.  Please bring prints created in Farrell’s previous museum classes if applicable.  No previous experience is necessary, and students are welcome even if they did not participate in previous classes!

KidArt at FCMOA
Monday – Friday, July 9 ñ 13 and July 16 ñ 20; 10:00 am-12:00 noon
Ages: 6 -11
Fee: $10 (materials)

Make art at the Fort Collins Art Museum! In this weeklong class
for kids we will explore painting, sculpture and printmaking as well as
do lots and lots of drawing. We will place our work in the context of the
art world with a visit to the museum and an interview with an artist.
The week will end with a gallery-style display of our creations, which
will also be part of the First Friday Art Walk on August 3.

Portraits from Life!
Saturdays, July 14, 21, 28; 10:00-1:00pm
Ages: 18 +
Registration is required by the Wednesday before the class begins
Fee: $10.00 (All Materials Provided)

Portraits from Life! In these classes you will be taught ways to draw the human face accurately and to capture a true likeness of the person. Take one class or all three.
